Nursery Confessionals

I have a confession.
My nursery is still not done!

I have excuses, you want to hear them? Okay good, cuz I've been going over them in my head trying to make them sound really good.
  1. The dog ate it, what dog you ask? Clifford, the big red one.
  2. Aliens abducted me.
  3. I've been watching Lost re-runs.
  4. I got too prego to stand on a chair and not fall off, it's a balance thing. (true)
  5. I was too cheap to turn on the AC and couldn't face the heat upstairs. (true)

Okay, so the real reason is more like I just wasn't exactly inspired. I am still not. I am trying to get into the "Nursery design groove", but I have had a hard time and too many ideas that aren't exactly coming together and no budget which is harder not impossible.

Also, Etta is still downstairs with us. Which is easiest for me. She hasn't even slept in her crib, she is still in her bassinet. (it's okay, she has been sleeping through the night since about 5 weeks). and yes, I was just bragging, even though I mostly just got lucky...

To make my design dilemma more dilemma-y, I was given something else I would like to use. While we were in Utah, Justin's mom gave me a book from the 50's-60's or so(it was her mothers), of darling pictures of nursery rhymes images. So, I decided I need to work that in, so things have once again changed, and moved. Here are two little pictures from the book there are 11 in perfect condition and one sorta ruined one, I may try to salvage.

BUT! I did do one thing, just the other week, and I want your opinion. I hung up the lanterns. This was a LOT harder than it seemed, trying to get them to hang evenly and feel balanced. To be honest I am not sure if I succeeded, but after getting up and down on a chair about 3,097 times, it isn't changing anytime soon.
Here are the pictures. (the rest of the room isn't really done yet, but here are the pictures. I'll come back to it soon, I need to make a quick trip to Ikea, Walmart and/or Family Dollar for frames! Shoppin' around is fun!)

Light on, Light off!

Just opposite the crib-

The two unfinished walls.

One will have the nursery rhymes. The one with the picture of the Savior will have a book shelf.

Firsts

Can you see what we had for the first time at church this Sunday?
I just can't help it, who cares if Mom has dripping wet hair(at least I showered), but Etta...
Seriously, she had just enough hair for an adorable ponytail, could you have stopped yourself?

And, to top it all off, she is wearing my baby blessing dress. I was a big baby (11 lbs), so I didn't fit into the blessing dress my sisters had worn, my Mom made this. I had to have her wear it as soon as I could get her in it! She is such a doll!

Even Buddha's jealous.

Some of the best things in the world are baby bellies!

The stats

We went to our first month appointment this week, here is the report.

97% for Height (23"3/4), about 90% for Weight (10# 12 oz)

So, we are growing strong and loving it!

Here is a picture from last night, of all the girls hanging out together!

Time flies

I cannot believe that already our baby girl is one month old.
We love every minute of everyday with her. She is getting so big. She is starting to hold up her head really well, is trying to smile, (the other day we had three awake smiles!) and FINALLY her little belly button fell off and I can give her real baths!

We had a 1 month birthday photo shoot to celebrate!
Here are some before pictures with Mommy!
(so fun to cuddle the softest little baby)

Daddy got in on the cuddling too! We hope she stays a cuddly baby!
Etta was given this beautiful little dress. I had to dress her in it for pics.

We tried the cute headbands, but they are still a little big, so we did a little switch-a-roo.

Happy First Month Birthday My Baby Love!

What a Grand-momma...

Thanks for coming mom!
We appreciate all you did, and Etta was so happy to meet you, and we were glad to show her off!
We had a very fun visit from Grandma O last week. Mostly we just enjoyed this sweet little baby. Grandma made us healthy food, helped keep the house clean and did all my saved up sewing! Yeah for no more hem repairs. We also started on Etta's blessing dress, that isn't finished yet, but just you wait, it is going to be fabulous!
We saw a few things, namely the water gardens and the stock yards and went to a few restaurants that we love (Jersey Mikes, La Madelines and Joe T. Garcia's). Here are some pictures!

Our tribute to the Little Dutch Boy!

I love to see the Long Horns,
every time I see them I almost commit to never eating beef again.
They are just wonderful creatures.

We love you Oma!

No self control

I admit it, I have no way of stopping myself from taking a gazillion pictures,
and I am now subjecting you to them.
Good things it is my blog and I can do what I want.
But, it's true, I just can't help myself-
a camera, a brand new baby, and a free evening make for one picture happy mother.

Here is a quick tribute to the older siblings. We titled the first one "Kitty the Grouch", she is sitting on the lid, but it looks like she is ready for a Sesame Street audition, and would give Ocsar a run for his money. And then there is Buddy, playing with a mouse that is getting loved to death, he likes to rub the mouse on his face.

And, of course, cuddling is Mommy and Daddy's favorite part of the day.
