Mail Call

I am sure you are all getting sick of the random projects on our blog, but hey it's our blog right?
I just painted our mailbox, it looked so bad before. And for a mere $2.96 it's brand new yet again!

Happy Anniversary

We had our 7th anniversary last weekend. Technically we didn't even get to hang out, it was a bit of a bummer. I was in a stake play, and had a women's conference all morning then we got to hang out for a mere two hours and it was back for another performance. Thank heaven I finally have some free time. It was really frustrating on our anniversary because we wanted to go out and have a nice late lunch/early dinner at a new restaurant downtown. We walked around for about 30 minutes and everyplace we passed by was closed from 2:30 - 5:00 (we were together from 3:00 to 5:00). So we went to Mellow Mushroom, which was delicious, but not that exotic. We took some pictures of ourselves to commemorate the day.

Spring Has Finally Sprung

We have been busily taking pictures of our ever changing yard. Actually this month alone we have taken well over 200 pictures of the misc. plants in our yard. We had to really narrow these pictures down to find some of our very favorites. Justin has really done a great job getting these. So without further adu, here are just some of the reasons we love Western North Carolina, and our new yard!

The front yard

Rain soaked azaleas

Flowering Dogwood

Ajuga among the grass

Pink Rhododendrons

The vines sucking the life out of our trees.... English and Poison Ivy

Even the weeds are prettier here ;-)

Sweet smelling lilac,
seriously though, our entire yard was full of their wonderful scent.

Newly transplanted ferns

Our door is always open...

We finally painted our front door!!!

We love to look at it now.
Also that same day, I literally scrubbed about a million stain splatters
(from a previous owner) off of half of our siding.
It was chocolate brown on light grey siding! No so pretty!
It took a lot of time, but now it feels like we have new siding.
And Justin installed a new front porch light
(among other things i.e. the house number and kick plate,
I installed the new handle and dead bolt).

The finished product!

I forgot to take a picture of the front door before! (one of my biggest pet peeves)
Luckily the side door is identical, besides the added doggie door.
The light is also the same as what used to be next to our front door.
The side door will be one of our next projects, we are also adding a screen door,
so I can open it up to get some extra air and light.

What do you think? I love comments!

Purr-fection

Well it has been a while since we last updated you on the state of our furry little children. That should really show you that we are trying to diversify our blog, because more than half of the pictures we take are of them. So, now we have some of the very best moments available for your viewing pleasure. Hope you enjoy these photos as much as we do the real things.

This is Natalie's (the toddler I watch) diaper bag.
One day when I was changing Natalie, I left the bag out.
When I came back to throw something in it,
there was my darling furry daughter, all cozy and happy.
(And there she stayed for about 3 more hours.)

Buddy was hoping we could hand him the remote, Lost is almost on!

As humans we have the good angel on one shoulder and the bad angel on the other,
Kitty has them both in her own little head, and here they are staring out at us.
(no doctoring of the image was performed)

Buddy is helping daddy balance the checkbook,
mostly he just wants to catch the mouse(cursor),
we don't have the heart to tell him that he is supposed to be catching the real kind.

A long day of chasing his big sister really wares our Buddy-boy out!

Kitty is always trying to hide from her rambunctious little bro.
This lamp shade seemed to be her brightest idea.

Is it just us or does buddy think he is Superman?

This is my childhood Barbie bunk-bed, made for me by my Daddy.
I was planning on letting my little niece have it, but kitty took over,
she is quite the sleeping beauty though.

I don't know if you can tell by this picture but Buddy's body is totally contorted.
The back end is one direction and the front end is facing the camera- look close!

Such a love bug!

Hairball! Sorry, you'll have to wait for the bathroom!

Honestly there is no convincing kitty that she is not human,
and mostly that she is not in charge.

Buddy trying on women's clothing! Awkward!

He forgot to take out the hanger!

Peek-a-boo!

Now you should be able to sit back and relax and know that you will not be subjected to our the crazy cat lady's pictures for at least a month or so!

Working on the Yard

We have been working on our yard the last few weekends. Actually, I guess I should say that Justin has been working on the yard, but I have helped where I could.

Justin leveled the yard and tilled up all the moss and weeds. Then he put down seed for grass, of course it froze the next week, so the seed might be dead. We will probably be putting down some more soon, URGH! He cleaned out a bed in the front and transplanted some of our azaleas, tulips, and other misc flowers. Then we took some concrete pavers that have been in our back yard and added a little set of stairs.

This weekend Justin is going with our friend Corey to go get some plants off of one of the sites they are working on (the plants that will just be bulldozed as they start construction). So hopefully we should at least get some beautiful ferns and who really knows what else.

The next thing (after the grass finally starts growing) will be painting and changing a the look of our porch and railings etc. We are loving the spring weather.

Awesome Purse

The other day I cleaned out my closet.
I found a brown velvet jacket that I never wear,
but I still loved the embroidery on it,
so I made a purse out of it and had to share
the pictures of the process and final product.
I love it so much! ( I used an old belt for the strap)
