And now I'll walk 500 more cuz guess what I got?
A treadmill!
I am so excited, our neighbors got a new treadmill and they put theirs outside to sell it on Saturday, and I sent Justin over to see what they were doing with it. I told him, if they are selling it, I'd pay $30.00 for it.
Well he let them know, that if they didn't hear anything else durring the day he'd take. And a few hours later, I had a brand new (to me) treadmill. And its the kind that folds up!
So I guess I have no excuse not to exercise! I should have thought about that before...
So tell me, what good deals have you been able to find in your life?

The stats: 2nd month
She hasn't changed much in terms of percentages:
90% for weight 12 lbs 8 oz
97% for height 24 1/4"
75% head circumference (I guess she didn't get my BIG head!)
We got shots too(this on the same morning the cat almost died, thank you very much). This was a really hard thing for both of us! (notice I said we got shots, technically it was only Etta, but it was a nightmare for Mommy) The nurse was like I'm real fast, she was. So fast the alcohol hadn't dried the band aids didn't stick and she left the room before Etta had finished her huge shocked in tack of breath.
It was the saddest most hurt, painful cry and face you have ever seen. Her eyes filled with tears, I grabbed her up in my arms, and got blood all over my shirt, trying to help calm her down. I was decided to nurse her, and it was like here world hers my boob, cuz we were on ground level with the blind fully pulled up, facing an apartment complex- Oh well my poor screaming baby won the most important vote for me.
We've had some weird days since then. I have been sick a bit and I am pretty sure so has she.

We are blessed...
friday september 11, 09
Since we were in town, where most all of our family is, we decided to have Etta's baby blessing. It was so nice, we had such a great turn out. What a joy to be surrounded by so many of our parents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and friends. What a joyful celebration.
Then, we went into the cultural hall and ate a huge beautiful potluck. Thanks to all that came, and brought food.
I have always thought of my "dream house" or other stuff like that, but why settle for mortal things that rot and corrupt. It is true this, life is not the dream The dream in is the life to come. The result of our choices today, through trials and life, that will ultimately decide the greatest dream on happiness and that is an Eternal happiness. A happiness that we cannot yet imagine, and a glory beyond description, Free from the hardships of this life. It is an exciting thing to ponder.
Some people handle "it all" (our personal trials, life...) so well, with grace and cheerfulness. I feel like I did fine the first 3-ish years, but then it got really difficult. Hope and faith was a harder burden to bear than just being angry. Until I finally let go of my scheduled plan did things work out. I am not saying that is the answer for everyone, it was my trial and my weaknesses that were being strengthened and refined. And I can honestly say, I have learned to be grateful for the things I have learned, even before I became pregnant, and now a mother.
I wouldn't have it any other way. I have had time with my Father in Heaven, my husband, family and friends and last but not least my first babies, our cats ;-) to help me along the way. I realize that I will have other trials come to me. They will be hard, and I will have to "learn through them" too. But I must rejoice in this gift, and I am still loving every minute of it, and my thanks to God must be shared.
I don't know if even half of this rambling made any sense, and it is okay if it didn't to anyone else but me I just needed to share it.

It was simple, but nice. We meet in the Relief society room, Justin's dad conducted the little meeting. We sang Families Can Be Together Forever, one of my favorite hymns and children's songs. Had an opening prayer, then Justin gave Etta her name and blessing through the Melchizedek priesthood. Then Grandpa K, and Oma shared their feelings, Justin and I shared our thoughts, feelings and testimonies. We closed with I am a Child of God, and a prayer. The spirit was so strong. Grandpa K got "the look"(family joke...) immediately and started all the Comitches crying from the get go. It was glorious.
Then, we went into the cultural hall and ate a huge beautiful potluck. Thanks to all that came, and brought food.
I just want to say right now how much the chance to have my child blessed means to me. I am so lucky to receive this blessed daughter from God. I know that he orchestrated the whole thing. Who could have imagined, that after such a long, arduous climb we would get the thing we most hoped for.
I was talking to my friend Jen, from Asheville today, and she mentioned something she had heard at a recent church meeting that said, - "this life is not the dream", meaning that the life to come, where we return to live with our Father in Heaven, is the dream.
I have thought a lot about the Atonement that the Savior has made for all of us. That is so essential, that will save my children and family and my gratitude and awe could not be greater. Things change as a parent, (or at least I have) we become more aware of the need we have for God and his plan of happiness that has been so perfectly laid out. We want so much for our children, and our sincerest hope rests with God.
I have always thought of my "dream house" or other stuff like that, but why settle for mortal things that rot and corrupt. It is true this, life is not the dream The dream in is the life to come. My thoughts have also been thinking about why this happened. I truly believe that only after I accepted God's will and not stubbornly fought for my own, did he let me have what I wanted. It was a hard pill to swallow, and unfortunately it got stuck in my throat for ahem a few years. But, once I accepted my life, the way my prayers had told me it would be, I was blessed. It is an interesting truth, that it is after the trial of our faith that the testimony comes.

On with the party pics... (I will blog later about making the blessing dress with my mom and some up close pictures of just that)

Surprise!
wednesday, september 9, 09
Justin's parents had not yet met Etta. They are planning on visiting for Christmas, but she would already be 5 months old by then, we decided we would surprise them.
Wednesday was the day Justin's family arrived home from their own vacation to Hawaii. They had no idea we were there. They took a red-eye flight home. And got to the house at about 9:00 am, we had made breakfast, then waited in the front room for them to walk in.
Justin's mom was the first to enter. She came through the back door. We sat quietly in the living room til she came through. The best part was listening to the conversation as they entered. She walked in and said, "Does it smell like Bacon?... Maybe it's just because I want bacon..." We were both trying not to laugh, it was so funny. (it did indeed smell like bacon, happy breakfast!)
It worked out nicely, after Mom and Heidi saw us, she opened the front door and people slowly trickled in one at a time.

Best Husband Ever
It's official. I have the best husband ever. He as been the biggest help, and best Daddy ever, he even takes the baby at night, for an hour or two if he can see that I am too tired.
But to prove it, I had to share this picture. He made me lunch on Saturday, and this is what it looked like. (yes he cut a heart out of the top piece... Too cute)

Da, da, da, Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday Justin!
...a few days late....
We celebrated Justin's birthday family style. It was so nice. We watched movies on Justin's awesome b-day present, come over and check it out. Then we had this lovely Fruit Galette (twice) I got the recipe from America's Test Kitchen videos I rented from the library!! I changed up a bit- then later while I checking blogs, Our Best Bites had the almost exact same recipe, so check here for the recipe, it is close enough to what I did.

Labor of Love
I need to get writing about my Etta's birth story before I forget it all. I wrote it all in my journal, and have let it go at that, but I am currently enjoying a nap break, and thought I should use it for a quick blog. I will just jump right in.
I was due on the 28th of August, and had been planning on going over as is the norm in my family. So, on the 22nd when I woke up at 5:19 in the morning to a large cramp that lasted about a minute, I didn't think much about it. I tried to go back to sleep, but 5 minutes later, I had another minute long cramp.
Luckily, Justin and I had taken a birthing class the week before, so I was aware that these were at least "like" contractions. Five minutes later, when I had my 3rd minute long contraction, I had to laugh to myself, "What if I have this baby today?'..Ha, ha...
Well an hour and 20 contractions later, all 5 minutes apart consistently, Justin's alarm goes off. He turns over and sees I'm, awake.
"Hi Honey," I say "I don't think you'll be going into work today."
"What?"groggy misunderstanding...
"Well, you know how in our class they said not to go into the hospital until your contractions last 1 hour, are 1 minute long and 5 minutes apart... Well it has been an hour, and they are 1 minute long, every 5 minutes ..."
I decide to get up and see if there are any changes. I am secretly getting excited, but I do NOT want to be the girl who goes into the hospital with false labor only to be sent home a dozen times. I take a long shower, and they are still getting closer. They are starting to hurt more and more.
We make breakfast, I call my midwife, to ask what I should do. She thinks I am not sounding "bad enough" So, I am probably not in labor... (I don't know about you, but I try not to sound to desperate when I talk on the phone, I try to sound cheerful... urgh)
At this point the contractions are almost 3-4 minutes apart, and they really hurt. I have showered, dressed, had Justin load the car, eaten breakfast, fed the cats, checked on the chickens and I know that I am 15-20 minutes away from the hospital and am getting more nervous. Of course the one good story I really remember is my friend telling me how she gave birth to her son in the car.
I call my mother, "Mommy, I think I'm in labor and the doctor says I'm not" I start to cry... It is true, I was in pain, I was scared and the midwife didn't believe me, and I had been up for 3 hours at this point and the contractions are just coming closer and harder. She tells me to go to the hospital. Thank you for your permission Mommy!
We drive to the hospital, I am excited! I can't believe what might actually happen today. I kept looking at the drivers around me thinking, "They have no idea that a miracle is occurring right at this very moment."
Sidenote: Please take a tour of your hospital before you go into labor. No one knows where you should go AT ALL, and it is really frustrating.....
We had driven by the drop off months before, so we thought we knew, but we couldn't remember exactly where. The emergency guard tells us to go "here", Once we get there, they tell us to go "there" and finally after 10 minutes of driving all around, we find the right place.
We hand the keys to the valet. We start to head in, but have to take a break, while I am leaningagainst a wall to get through a contraction and a sweet lady offers a wheel chair. Thank you how nice. But she is unsure where to go, we pass the info desk... and takes us to admissions.
They are less than happy to have us there, they tell us to get out of the way and wait cuz someone else is coming in, thank you very much. They'll get someone for us when they can... After waiting 5 minutes and two more contractions. I am sick of it, and stand up to walk to the dang place myself.
We start looking for signage. There, "Labor and delivery" we walk to the other side of the building. Once we get there a I man says, no you need to go to THE OTHER SIDE OF THE (DANG... my thoughts added) BUILDING. I am about to cry... again. We walk all the way back to the first info desk where the entrance is.... Finally, we arrive in Maternal Observation.
They strap me into a bed with the monitors for baby heart beats and contractions. At first, the contractions are regular every 3-4 minutes, but after an hour they start to slow. I am worried that I am in false labor... I do not want to go home.
The new midwife on call says to have me start walking the hall for an hour. As I walk the contractions start getting closer again, uh and they are really starting to hurt... But I am only dilated to a 3. (it hasn't changed)
The midwife comes in and tells us, "Yes I am in labor, but I may be there a little early, and I could go home if I want or go get lunch, or I can check into Labor and Delivery". I choose to check in, I am just way to nervous not to.
Can I just say that I am not into pain... I know this very clearly now. Back in the hopeful days I thought I could do it without an epidural, ha, ha, ha.
I LOVE EPIDURALS!
I REALLY REALLY LOVE EPIDURALS!!!
And while I stand in awe of the brave women who don't need them, "as for me and my house, we will always have an epidural."
At 1:30, I decided I had had enough and wanted it to be pain free. Of course, when I got the epidural I had 3, 1 minute long contractions, 1 minute apart and I was actually screaming in pain. I also got the shakes like you cannot believe, all this while they are saying, be calm, don't tense and and DON'T MOVE A MUSCLE!. I think Justin was a little terrified, by the dramatic change in his happy, serene wife, to the screaming shaking wife.
But about 1 hour later, I was happily watching Divine Design on HGTV, sipping apple juice, and wondering if I was still having contractions... BLISS!

We took a nap, watched more design shows and waited to progress. At about 6:00, I was at 8 cm, and my midwife came in to break my water. Then she went to a meeting... Finally at about 7:30, at last dilated to a 10 my nurse decided it was time to push.
What?
Where?
I don't know what I'm doing?
Are you serious?
I have to do what?
Where's the doctor?
So, Justin, the nurse and I listening to the Coors, with our candle warmer perfuming the air, begin to push. And what do we see, and tiny bit of a head full of black hair? What?
....You wanna know something kinda funny, - They set up a mirror, so I could see what I was doing. You may think gross, but it was kinda cool. Just a little disheartening, when you find out the "Good Jobs, wow that is really good" Only mean you can see an inch of baby head... You have got to be kidding me...
About 45 minutes later the Midwife comes in, and they actually gave me some handles to pull on instead of my thighs, thank heaven! Why not sooner? It was so much easier.
